Fire Extinguisher Sales and Servicing

Fire Extinguishers can be seen everywhere and in every building we enter. Generally we don’t give them a second thought, but they are there for our safety. Using a fire extinguisher can mean the difference between a small incident and a full scale disaster with possible loss of life.

Fire extinguishers are there for the employee or the occupant of the building to use, they are not there for the fire service.

CO2 Fire Extinguisher    

CO2 is suitable for electrical equipment, Class B (liquid) fires. It is known for its cleanliness and non-damaging highly effective performance. CO2 is harmless to delicate office equipment and computers and therefore it is ideal for modern office environments. It is also suitable for all electrical risks and where oils, spirits, solvents and waxes are in use. However, you must consider class A fire risks when selecting a CO2 Fire Extinguisher, for this reason they generally go hand in hand with Water based extinguishers such a Foam Fire Extinguishers.

Dry Powder Extinguishers – ABC

Dry powder is a multipurpose fire extinguisher. Suitable for Class A, B & C fires such as, organic fire, electrical hazards, flammable liquids and gases. ABC Powder is also effective for vehicle fires. They can be considered as a versatile standalone fire extinguisher. However, due to the low visibility and inhalation of the dust they are not ideal for small areas such as offices or schools etc. They are ideal for warehouses and large open areas.

Foam Extinguishers – AFF    

Spray Foam is a water based extinguisher, suitable for both Class A & B fires. Spray Foam works by cooling and smothering the fire. It has the ability to reduce the risk of fire reigniting. Once the fire has been extinguished the foam effectively seals the vapours at the same time as cooling the fire.

Wet Chemical Class F Fire Extinguishers

Class F Fire Extinguishers have successfully replaced foam extinguishers in the kitchen, typically for deep fat fryers fires. They react with the hot oil to form a soapy like substance on which smothers the fire. Unlike water they don’t turn to steam and cause the oil to rapidly push back out of the pan and onto the person trying to extinguish the fire making them a much safer option.

Water Fire Extinguishers

Water Fire Extinguishers are stored pressure water fire extinguishers suitable for use on class A fires involving wood, paper textiles and other class A risks in offices and commercial premises.

Fire Blankets 

A fire blanket is a sheet of fire retardant material designed to extinguish small fires, typically fat pan fires. It is placed over a fire in order to smother it. They are generally sited in kitchens, in a quick-release container for ease of storage. Larger fire blankets, can be used in laboratory and industrial situations. These blankets are mounted in quick-release cabinets so that they can be easily pulled out and wrapped round a person if their cloths catch fire.
