Oxygen Therapy
This course is designed to enhance the skills of Healthcare professionals and Occupational First Aid providers, by teaching them the skills to set up and deliver oxygen in an emergency situation.
Oxygen administration is useful for any patient who does not appear to be adequately perfused or not maintaining sufficient oxygen levels. The course is ideally suited to large companies, Hotels, leisure centres & outdoor pursuits centres.
This comprehensive course is available only to Cardiac First Responders and above and is designed to teach about the safe use, storage, handling and delivery of oxygen. Participants will learn how to use oxygen both in a medical/trauma and in resuscitation. The use of suction will also be part of the course. All participants receive a comprehensive notes and MSDS from BOC Gases.

In the classroom, students participate in simulated scenarios. Students work with an Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council Instructor to complete skills practice.
Course Format
The course requires approximately 3½ hours to complete, including skills practice. While the main content of the course is general, each course is different in terms of learners, circumstance and requirements. There is no exam or assessment with this course but full participation is required to receive certification.

There is no minimum age requirement set out in the current Education & Training Standards, however an individual should be mature enough to comprehend the knowledge, skills and implications associated with defibrillation and have a maturity to complete assessment to receive certification. Currently PHECC recognised institutions use 16 years of age as a benchmark.
